Isolation Game
(Acrylic on Masonite, 2024)
Ever since I was a kid, I loved the park. There was always a park near my home, even now. Whenever I need to clear my head, I’m overwhelmed, or I’ve been around people for too long. Sometimes I just need to take a walk, smoke a cigarette, and go to the park. My knees and elbows are bruised and bloody, representing when I abuse isolation to the point of it hurting me. The shoes are on backwards, and they're the same shoes I used to wear when I was in elementary school. I think it adds a nice layer of uncertainty to the piece, and emphasises the theme of feeling lost and alone.
